...when I have some good news to share on my blog. Unfortunately, the news here still is not that good. Mom and I found out on Friday that the lovely beach house we moved into 6 weeks ago is being foreclosed upon. So you see, we will have to move again...sometime soon.
This just sucks.
And so I work towards the day when I shall have some GOOD news to share.
Chin up!

FRUSTRATION!!

Arrrggghhhhhh.....!!!!!! Do you know how frustrating it is when you give someone really good advice and they TOTALLY ignore you??? What's more frustrating is the fact that they didn't listen to you is going to affect many, many people in a bad way. What's worse, I cannot do anything about it. Frustrated, frustrated, frustrated. I feel the need to hit something. A wall. No wait, already did that when my advice was ignored. I think I shall go uproot some of my plants for the move to let out some of my frustration in a constructive manner. Very unusual for me, don't ya think?
Ugghhhh........

Withdrawal

You should know before you read any further: this is going to be a bitch and moan and stomp my feet entry. If you're not into that, please read no further.
I am suffering from withdrawal. At first I thought it was just cruise withdrawal. Once you get off a ship and return home it's hard to remember that there isn't someone who is going to come make your bed twice a day and leave a towel animal in your room. Or that you can have steak cooked for you EVERY night if you want. I thought it was that kind of withdrawal. But after a week of thinking about the cruise and all the fun, I realized it's not the cruise I miss, it's the people. I am going through friend withdrawal.
I know, I know, I can call them, e-mail or text with them, but it's just not the same as seeing them everyday. None of the people I am closest to live anywhere near me. And I don't know if and when we will all be together again. It makes me sad.
Something else I realized today: this is the first time in 5 years wherein I don't have a cruise planned for the future. 5 years! I wish I knew how some of my friends are able to do it; that is, cruise 3-4 times a year. I'm jealous.
So, now I'm sad, jealous AND going through withdrawal.
I need a life.
All done.

Secrecy

Why do you tell secrets to people you know you can't trust? Because, in our heart of hearts, you WANT to trust them. Has experience not taught you anything? There are those who walk amongst you who should not be trusted. And once the secret is told, it usually hurts someone else. THAT'S WHY IT WAS MEANT TO BE A SECRET!!
I've never really thought about the word secret before today. But I learned of a secret early this morning and it's been churning up my stomach all day. Why? Because I was the one that got hurt, kind of. And what's worse, is I know the secret was told to me with the intent of getting a rise out of me. Someone told somebody else a secret. She told him, so he would tell me. She KNEW he couldn't be trusted to secrecy. This is why she did it. I've always said she was crazy and evil; this is just more proof.
I would tell you who "she" is, but it's a secret.

Good Day/Bad Day
Today was a good day as the country inaugurated a new President. He makes me hopeful for our country, something I haven't been in a very long time. (For you conservatives out there, I mean beyond the last 8 years). However, I was a bit upset with the 44th President, when, in his inaugural address, he lambasted ex-President Bush. There was really no call for that.
But I digress.
Today was a bad day, as I received an e-mail from a company that was my last hope for a job, informing me that the company now has a hiring freeze. I'm totally bummed.
Speaking of freezes, it's cold as snot here in sunny Florida (sorry Laura, Jaime, Sue, Lori, etc). I know cold is relative, but as I sit here writing this blog and it's a blustery 29 degrees. I know, I know, it could be worse. I could be in New Jersey, Indianapolis, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and all points North. But I need to bitch or else I may explode.
I'm done...for now.

The Tide is Changing!!

After another spectacular win last night by my GATORS, I can't help but look ahead to December 6th and the SEC championship. It is here where the GATORS will play the Alabama Crimson Tide (ask me what that is, I couldn't tell you, but I think it's some sort of an elephant or something) and hopefully give them a beating of a lifetime. Then my friends, it's on to Miami, January 8th, where we will play for the national championship. With all that's going on in my life, I am ever so thankful to have football to look forward to every Saturday.
On another note, may I just mention the following: I hate cold weather. Now I know most of the people who read this blog are from the North and are forever telling me how "cold" is all relative. I don't care. Here in Florida, the thermometer will not surpass 70 degrees AT ALL this week. As a matter of fact the high today is only 59 and tonight will be in the 30's. Ick. It hurts all the way to my bones when it's this cold. I hate sitting with my shoulder's shrugged all day. I presently have 3 layers of clothes on. I know, I know, I should be happy that I don't have to shovel snow. And I am. But I still wish I was in the Caribbean somewhere.
Another rant over.

Working on Those Night Moves...Because I Can
A friend of mine, a guy as a matter of fact, recently told me one of his all time favorite lines in a song was, " I used her, she used me, but neither one cared, we were gettin' our share..." I told him I really liked that line too, as it reminded me of when I was in high school, "experimenting" as it were. Then he said, "so you were a little slutty back then?" Never mind my response. But it got me to thinking: here we are in the 21st century and we still carry with us those "1950's" values? Guys who sleep around are heroes and women who sleep around are whores.
So here I am again, on my soapbox. And I ask you, how ridiculous is this thinking? Are there those of you still out there who are raising children teaching them this thought process? If not, how is this mind thought still proliferated? It's 2008 folks. When I was growing up, it wasn't just the boys who attached this labels to girls. Girls did it too. But I think girls did it as a defense mechanism for the most part, boys say it for ego. I think the fact that woman now have more control over their bodies (i.e. birth control) than ever before, and can decide for themselves who they are going to sleep with or not sleep with, scares the shit out of men. You should know guys, it scares us too. Rejection is a bitch. But because I CAN choose to sleep with someone, and I CAN choose if I want to call him and see him again or not, does this make me a ____? (fill in your own label here. I won't help)
I honestly hope I get some comments on this, from men and women alike. I would like to hear what the thinking out there is from REAL people, not from scholars and their theories.
For the record, I'm not a feminist or a lesbian. (Not that feminists are lesbians). I don't hate men. I hate all genders equally...lol. I do realize that not all men and women think like this, so please, I beg of you don't be offended. It's just me, blowing off a bit of steam. Because I can.

Being Anal is Not Fun

7:00 p.m. If you look to the right of this blog, you will see links to some of my favorite blogs. Do you see the WIDE spaces between the links??? IT'S DRIVING ME MAD!! I have tried to fix this for 2 damn days, have spent at least 6 hours trying to repair this. Why, you may ask? Why all this work because of a few spaces? Because I'm anal. Also known as Type A personality.
You know who we are...the ones that have the most organized desks at work. Our houses are spotlessly clean, or so we would like you to believe (most of the crap is thrown in the closet). Everything in our drawers are folded neatly. We normally have exact change at the cash register (can't have change LAYING around). One thing out of place and, "OH MY G-D! THE WORLD MAY END!"
Lord knows I have tried to break free of this addiction. I must admit, I'm getting better at it. I can actually leave the dinner dishes in the sink for more than an hour before I MUST put them in the dishwasher (proper place). When I go on vacation, I don't HAVE to put my dirty clothes in the dirty clothes bag, I can leave them on a chair. However, I haven't worked this out at the office yet. I still leave my desk every day, with every pen, pencil and pad in it's proper place. Oh, and a list of "To Do" items for the next day.
But no, this spacing thing has gotten to my inner anal. I have gone as far as to join a techie group to try and get help. I'm pacing the floors waiting for an answer. Could someone please pull this corncob out of my anal?
Update: 9:20 p.m. Corncob released. Issue resolved. Now maybe I can get some sleep.
Thank you Danny. I owe you.

VENT!!

I promised myself I wouldn't use this blog as an area to bitch. Well, I'm not even a week into this, and here I am about to spill.
MEAN PEOPLE SUCK! Maybe it's an ego thing, but I truly dislike it when people are mean to me or dislike me for no apparent reason. Now if I have harmed someone in some way, then I would expect to be treated like dirt. But damn, why are people mean for no apparent reason? Do mean people wake up in the morning and say, "I think I'm just gonna be mean and nasty to everyone today", or is it a spur of the moment thing? I always told my kids, before you speak, you have a split second to decide what you will say and how you will react to other's words...use that second wisely. What's worse, is that some mean people can't even be mean to your face...they go behind your back and stick you with their nastiness. How wrong is that?
Rant over.
